ADULT WELLNESS PROGRAM


Overall Goal: 
Encouraging creative expression by motivating, nurturing and igniting the inner spirit.

Sacred Circle Mission:
To provide people of diverse backgrounds with an opportunity to receive an enjoyable experience in a comfortable environment while being able to learn various genres of dance and movement.

Sacred Circle Objectives:

  1. To help improve flexibility, health immunity & circulation through movement

  2. To build strength, balance, isolation and fluidity

  3. To expose participants to the history and meanings various disciplined dance techniques beyond and within the Sacred Circle Program
Sacred Circle:
Adult Wellness Program
consists of 3 core classes (Deep stretching, yoga positions and postures will be incorporated throughout each class.) The classes designed for adults of any age, ability, or body type). Other Classes may be added for future sessions.
  1. Technique - Floor exercises will be learned to develop strength and flexibility; combinations in the center and across the floor to stress duration expressiveness. Students will also learn the basic foundations of Ballet & Modern movements to help improve balance, rhythm, and muscle memory.

  2. North African Belly Dance - Learn intricate hip movements, body isolation and flexibility, arm and hand movements, veil and sword dancing. Also learn how to play zills (finger cymbals) and skillful floor work.

  3. Afro Modern Fusion - Groove and Move to the sounds of Afro-Beat music by Fela Kuti, Cheik Lo, and Wunmi Girl . Learn dance steps that are influenced by both Modern and African Dance.
